Supporting Community Development through Waqf

At Shifa Centre, we are dedicated to promoting the concept of Waqf (Islamic endowment) as a way to support the community and enhance the well-being of Muslims. Our Waqf initiatives focus on projects that foster community development while strictly following Islamic principles.

Our Waqf Services Include:

1. Cambodian Mosque Building & Mosque repair

We collaborate with local asatizah in Cambodia to identify locations for building new mosques and musollahs, especially in remote areas. Additionally, we work to repair and maintain existing mosques, ensuring they remain safe, welcoming, and spiritually uplifting spaces for prayer.

2. Al Qur’an Distribution

We are committed to spreading the message of Islam and making the Qur’an accessible to everyone. Our distribution initiatives include:

Hadith on Waqf

Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) said:

“O Messenger of Allah, I have acquired some property, which I consider to be the best property, and I want to give it in charity. How should I do that?”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“If you wish, you may give it as a charitable endowment (Waqf), and if you do, you may not sell it, nor give it away, nor inherit it, nor do anything that would reduce its original purpose. Rather, keep it for the benefit of the poor, orphans, travelers, or others in need.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 2764)

Your Contributions Matter

  1. Waqf as Charity: This Hadith emphasizes that a Waqf is a highly virtuous form of charity, and the intention behind it should be to benefit others, particularly the needy, over a long period of time.
  2. Perpetual Charity: Once something is made into a Waqf, it cannot be sold, inherited, or given away. It remains dedicated to the cause for which it was intended, making it a source of ongoing rewards for the donor (sadaqah jariyah).
  3. Utilization for the Community: The Waqf can be used for various purposes such as helping the poor, providing for the orphans, supporting religious activities, building schools, or aiding travelers, as long as it benefits the community.
